Workshop Terms

Booking and Confirmation

You can book a Workshop or a Print Club session by either:

• Booking online via this website.

• By visiting my studio during opening hours.

You can pay for a Workshop or Print Club session by using the following methods:

• Online: via a credit or debit card .

• At the Studio: via cash, credit or debit card.

Once you have booked your session, you will receive an automatic email to confirm your place. You’ll also receive further details and a reminder about your booked session at least a week before it takes place.

All Workshops and Print Club sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Cancellations

If you are unable to attend a Workshop or Print Club session:

Please note that Workshops and Print Club sessions are non-refundable, but I may be able to transfer you to another date (space permitting) if you provide me with at least two week’s notice. If you are no longer able to attend your session, please email hello@frankiebrown.co.uk to discuss.

If you do not provide two week’s notice, unfortunately I cannot offer you a transfer to another date, or a refund.

Alternatively, you may sell your space to a friend, who can attend in your place.

My right to cancel a Workshop or Print Club session:

Should I need to cancel a Workshop or Print Club session due to unforeseen circumstances, I will aim to give you as much notice as possible of the cancellation. I will offer to transfer you to another session (space permitting) or a refund.

Unfortunately I cannot accept any liability for travel costs or any other costs incurred due to the cancellation

Bad Weather

In the event of bad weather (Met Office warning level Amber and above) I may decide to cancel a planned Workshop or Print Club session.

In the case of a cancellation due to bad weather, I will try to give as much notice as possible. You will be contacted via email. I will offer to transfer you to another session date (space permitting) or a refund.

If I decide to continue running a workshop regardless of bad weather, and you decide not to attend, no refund will be given.

Health & Safety

Age Restriction

Please note that Workshops and Print Club sessions are not suitable for children under 16, and you must be 16+ to attend.

Hazards

Workshops and Print Club sessions are held in a working studio. We will be using sharp tools and operating equipment that could cause injury if incorrectly used. By booking a space, you are agreeing to take full responsibility for your own health and safety. Health and safety will be covered as part of each session, so please observe the guidance provided and practice caution.

Insurance

Frankie Brown holds Public Liability Insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Workshops are limited to 4 spaces, and Print Club sessions are limited to 6 spaces.

  • Unfortunately I cannot offer reservations, and all Workshops and Print Club sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking.

  • At the moment, I’m not offering Workshops or Print Club sessions for Under 16. Attendees must be 16 or older to attend.

I am looking into offering sessions for 10-16 year olds, so please email to let me know if this is something you are interested in.

Due to the sharp nature of the tools, linocut is not advised for small children.

  • There is plenty of on-street parking on Broad Street, which requires payment at the machine. Car parks are also available a short walk away at:

    • Broad Street Car Park (PO1 2GR)

    • Camber Quay Car Park (PO1 2GR)

    • Grand Parade Car Park (PO1 2NF).

All parking requires payment and unfortunately due to the popular area, there is no free parking available.

  • Of course! When adding a workshop to your basket, select ‘Gift’ when prompted by the form. Enter your own details at check out. and I’ll be in touch with you as soon as possible. If enough notice is provided, I may be able to offer a presentable gift voucher.

  • My studio is fully accessible, with no steps or ramps to navigate. Toilets are available just across the way from my studio entrance, including a disabled toilet.

Whilst linocut can be a very physical activity, I may be able to adapt the session to suit you. Bench hooks and hand guards can be used for securing lino. Instead of lino, softer vinyl options are available which are easier to carve. I can also adapt the layout of my studio if you have limited mobility.

When booking, let me know of your additional needs during the checkout process, and I’ll be in touch to discuss.

  • During Workshops and Print Club sessions, there will be some basic refreshments.

As standard, there will be tea, french press coffee, water, squash and biscuits available. On occasion, they may be cake! Oat or almond milk is always stocked in my studio fridge too.

When booking, let me know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

If you are booking a Print Party, I may be able to offer something a little more special, and perhaps even some bubbles! Just get in touch.

For longer sessions (4+ hours), I advise you to bring a packed lunch - a small break will be offered during the session. You can also find a selection of cafes in the area.

  • Absolutely not at all! I believe anyone can try linocut, and I welcome everyone of all abilities and skill levels.

Some sessions will be easier than others, but all sessions can be adapted to suit your level.

If you don’t have your own photos or drawings to work from, templates will be available in the sessions too.

For some workshops (multiblock and reduction) some previous linocut experience would be beneficial.

A good positive attitude is all you need, and give yourself permission to just have fun and try it!

  • Drop an email to hello@frankiebrown.co.uk and I’ll be sure to email you if I have a cancellation.

You can also sign up to my newsletter to be informed when I add new dates!

  • All materials and tools will be provided in workshops, but feel free to bring along any of your own that you’d like to use. I can offer tips on using them, and also give them a quick honing if required.

  • If you have a voucher for a free Print Club session, (either earned through attending 9 Print Club session, through attending a workshop, or being gifted one) I kindly ask if you could purchase a space on your requested date first, and I will refund you on arrival to the session.

This is to protect against no-shows.

But please get in touch if this is a problem and I will do my best to make other arrangements.
